Eighteen 7th grade students attended the local Ohio Academy of Science fair held at Walsh Jesuit High School on Saturday, February 11, 2017. They represented 17 projects in various science fields such as: Behavioral Sciences, Botany, Chemistry, Medicine/Microbiology, and Physics. Ten of the projects earned a Superior rating and advance to the District 5 Fair held at the University of Akron on March 18th.
The following students earned prizes for placing in the top three of their respective categories: Anna Tillinghast (2nd Behavior Sciences), Emily Schuman(2nd Biochemistry), Leo Fornara(1st Botany), Katie Williams(2nd Botany),Nina Padanilam(2nd Medicine/Microbiology), Jack Grobelny(3rd Medicine/Microbiology, and Dewey Black(1st Physics). Dewey Black also received the Governor’s Thomas Edison Award of Excellence for Excellence in Advanced or Alternative Energy Research. Other Superior recipients were Emma Kealy/Melanie Geiger, Caroline Morgan, and Riley Nowak. Rounding out the representatives from our school were Ashley Davis, Viraj Jain, Nick Kruse, Kaleigh McNamara, Ed Musbach, Tristan Spearry, and Matthew Trimble.
